ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - State revenue enforcement officers have raided the Crown Kia auto dealerships in Anniston, Fort Payne and Gadsden to seize documents related to an ongoing investigation.
Charles E. Grumbley, investigations director for the Alabama Department of Revenue, said Friday that revenue officers raided the dealerships and the Gadsden accounting firm Kirkland and Company.
Fort Payne Police Commissioner Ron Ogletree said revenue officials asked that a marked police unit assist them.
He said they were looking into "a white-collar crime." Grumbley declined to elaborate on the nature of the probe.
The Crown office in Gadsden had no comment on the raids Friday.
