FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities investigating a possible
homicide have exhumed the body of a man whose death last year at
his DeKalb County home was initially thought to be from natural causes.
The body of 65-year-old Billy Junior Shaw was exhumed Wednesday
at Fuller Cemetery in Ider and taken to the Huntsville Forensics
Lab for an examination Thursday.
DeKalb District Attorney Mike O'Dell said authorities believe Shaw, who was found dead in his home April 22, 2008, did not die from natural causes. He declined to elaborate.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris said investigators have a person or persons of interest but would not release any names.
