HAMILTON, Ala. (AP) - About 350 more Alabama National Guard
troops are headed to Afghanistan.
Four units of the 877th Engineer Battalion held send-off ceremonies on Tuesday in the northwest Alabama town of Hamilton. On Wednesday, they will leave the state for training before shipping out.
One unit from the 877th already is in Afghanistan with about 160 soldiers.
The commander of the battalion, Lt. Col. Terry Grisham, said troops will be building structures, roads and other infrastructure in support of oalition forces in Afghanistan.
