Runoff Slated in Special State Senate Race

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - State Reps. Merika Coleman of Hueytown
and Priscilla Dunn of Bessemer are headed for a runoff in a special
election to fill a vacant Alabama state Senate seat.

The winner of the runoff on June 30 will replace former Sen. E.B. McClain, who was forced to give up the District 19 seat following his conviction in January in a federal corruption case.

There were eight candidates, all Democrats, in Tuesday's primary. Dunn received 2006 votes and Coleman 1,725.

State Rep Rod Scott was third with 873 votes.
