PELL CITY, Ala. (AP) - Officials say a man who was out on bond for shooting his estranged wife in March has killed her and himself in a murder-suicide in Pell City.
Police Chief Greg Turley said it appears 46-year-old Randall McCoy shot 37-year-old Conswella McCoy twice in the body and once in the head with a .32 caliber revolver outside her apartment complex around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Turley said McCoy apparently shot himself in the head after killing his wife.
McCoy drove to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Jail in March and told authorities he had shot his wife and wanted to turn himself in.
Conswella McCoy was hospitalized but recovered from gunshot wounds to her head and chest.
Randall McCoy was charged with first-degree assault and released on a $75,000 bond.
