MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Recovery crews have found a body
authorities believe is that of a 67-year-old Montgomery man whose car was swept into a large concrete drainage ditch by floodwaters.
Maj. Huey Thornton, a police spokesman, said the body was found Friday morning in an open field off Narrow Lane Road, at least three miles from where the man's car was found.
It apparently washed up into the field when floodwaters
overflowed the ditch.
A deputy and a Montgomery police officer tried without success
to get the driver out of the vehicle when it went into the ditch
Thursday, but the current took it away.
