Alabama jail escapee nabbed in South Carolina

ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama inmate who escaped from a drug
treatment center is being held in a South Carolina jail awaiting
extradition.

Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson said police in Forest Acres, S.C., nabbed 43-year-old Glasco Stephens of Anniston Monday
after a homeowner caught him using the bathroom in her house.

Authorities said Stephens, a South Carolina native, escaped on
April 20.

He is also a suspect in the April 21 robbery of an Anniston area credit union.

A disciplinary hearing is pending against the corrections officer who was assigned to watch Stephens.
