Theodore teen sentenced in 2008 shooting death

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A Theodore teen has been given a life sentence for the murder of his 60-year-old neighbor.

Myles Montgomery was 14-years-old when the crime occurred.

Montgomery, who is now 16, was given a life sentence Monday for the January 2008 shooting death of 60-year-old Richard Land.

Land was shot in the back of the head as he stood at his door after confronting Montgomery, who had burglarized his home three days before.

Montgomery pleaded guilty to murder and burglary earlier Monday and Circuit Judge James Wood sentenced him to life for murder and 20 years for burglary.
