2 charged in torture/abuse cases in North Alabama

MOULTON, Ala. (AP) - Two parents in north Alabama have been
charged with torturing and abusing their preschool children.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said a 31-year-old father
admitted he broke the arm and leg of his five-year-old son.

William Mac Gantt, Jr., was charged with torture and willful
abuse of a child. Mitchell said Gantt was arrested Monday.

He posted a $10,000 bond and was released from custody.

In a separate case announced Tuesday, investigators arrested
27-year-old Brandy Wagg of Trinity.

She faces similar charges for breaking her 6-month-old son's arm.

Wagg was being held on $15,000 bond.
