DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - A Decatur police officer has testified that blood drops found at the crime scene show that Karen Tipton tried
to escape her attacker when she was sexually assaulted and stabbed
to death at her home.
Officer Mike Pettey testified Friday about what he found at Tipton's home shortly after she was killed on March 12, 1999. His testimony came at the end of the first week of Daniel Wade Moore's capital murder trial.
Prosecutors are expected to continue to presenting testimony Monday morning in Judge Steve Haddock's courtroom at the Morgan County Courthouse. This is Moore's third trial on capital murder charges in Tipton's death.
