MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Senate has approved five
trustees that Gov. Bob Riley selected for Troy University.
The Senate voted Thursday to approve the governor's reappointment of Montgomery lobbyist Lamar Higgins, former state Sen. Gerald Dial of Lineville, state Banking Superintendent John Harrison of Luverne and state Farm Insurance executive Karen Carter of Birmingham as Troy trustees.
\The Senate also approved the governor's appointment of retired Air Force Gen. Ed Crowell of Pike Road to the Troy board.
All the Troy appointments except Dial's were passed 29-0. The Senate voted 12-9 for Dial.
