MONTGOMERY -- Alabama Department of Industrial Relations Director Tom Surtees announced today that Alabama’s two Unemployment Compensation Call Centers and its
Hearings & Appeals division will remain open during Monday’s state holiday.
“With increased unemployment in the state, we’ve made the decision to keep many of our employees on the clock during the holiday,” said Surtees.
“Especially with this holiday falling on a Monday, a peak unemployment filing time, I think it’s important that our call centers be open to serve the public. We also have a number of people waiting on decisions from the Hearings & Appeals division. We want to make it as easy as possible for unemployed Alabamians to receive their benefits.”
The calls centers are open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Claimants can file a claim online at www.dir.alabama.gov or call 1-866-234-5382.
For inquiries on an existing claim, claimants can call 1-800-361-4524.
