HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Restaurateur Paul Sanford has scored a
solid win over attorney Sam Givhan in a Republican primary runoff
for a state Senate seat.
Sanford will face state Rep. Laura Hall, who won the Democratic
primary for the Senate seat. The election will take place on June 9.
Givhan was the leader after the first round with 30 percent of
the vote to Sanford's 23 percent. On Tuesday, with 56 of 57
precincts reporting, Sanford had about 60 percent of the vote.
