HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Huntsville police expect to release more
details soon in a two-vehicle crash that killed two teenagers.
Police Sgt. Mark Roberts says a pickup truck was fleeing police
when it crashed into a car Friday night, killing 19-year-old Tad
Joseph Mattle and 16-year-old Leigh Anna Jimmerson.
But Roberts says the officer wasn't in hot pursuit. He says the
officer was "trying to catch up" to the truck to read the license
plate number and was not immediately behind the truck. More details
may be released Monday.
Roberts says the driver of the truck, 25-year-old Felix Dominguez Ortiz, will be charged with two counts of murder when he is released from Huntsville Hospital.
Ortiz was in critical condition.
A memorial for the teens was held Sunday.
