BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A judge has sentenced 24-year-old
Jonathan Vance of Auburn to 18 years in federal prison in a
multi-state Internet pornography scheme.
School officials from across Alabama and elsewhere fielded
complaints about Vance, who badgered girls for nude pictures.
Last week, Vance pleaded guilty to charges including attempted
production of child pornography and interstate extortion.
When released, Vance will have to report to a probation officer
for the rest of his life and register as a sex offender.
In Birmingham, Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Fortune says
authorities learned much from the case that can be used to educate
law enforcement, teachers, students and parents.
