Mark Pool Named 2009 Engineer of the Year

Mark Pool was surprised to hear his name announced Thursday for the honor, but his colleagues say it is well deserved.

Pool has been Head Engineer in Houston County since 1995.

Pool thanked the staff at the Houston County Road and Bridge Department at the ceremony saying he could not do his job effectively without them.

Maybe Mr. Poole could enlighten the State and their SUBCONTRACTORS how repair a bridge. (52 East @ Cliff Road approx. 0.254 mile bridge replacement EXPECTED to be completed within 160 WORKING days) It has now been 8 MONTHS and they are saying it could be anywhere from June to September. This is a joke! We are paying for their LACK of doing a job in a timely manner with more gas and extreme inconvenience. The state should finish a job before starting another, for example 231 north.
