Ala. Senate Democrats back Little after arrest

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - State Senate Democrats are expressing support for Sen. Zeb Little remaining as their majority leader after he apologized for alcohol use that led to his arrest for driving under the influence.

The Cullman Democrat met in private with the Senate Democratic Caucus on Tuesday to discuss his arrest Friday in Jefferson County.

Senators Roger Bedford and Rodger Smitherman say Little accepted full responsibility and apologized to his fellow senators.

They say there was no discussion of Little stepping aside as majority leader and the caucus retains confidence in him.
