Tot safe after taken hostage in police standoff

MOULTON, Ala. (AP) - Moulton Police Chief Lyndon McWhorter said 45-year-old Charles "Chuck" Borden Jr. fired at least three shots in the standoff that began around 7 p.m. Saturday and ended at about 7 a.m. Sunday.

A Lawrence County Sheriff's Department dispatcher said an arrest
was made and no one was injured.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Borden had a court
case coming up for a drug arrest. His sister, Karen Borden, said
their mother recently died.

The standoff began when an officer responded to a disturbance
and saw a male enter a house. The officer called for backup after
he pursued the man inside and the suspect fired one shot.
