BIMRINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Fire College is moving its recruit school off campus for the first time.
The college is based on the Shelton State Community College campus at Tuscaloosa.
The training center has moved to a site in Hoover so prospective firefighters won't have to travel to Tuscaloosa.
Executive director Allan Rice said the 10-week, off-campus program for entry-level firefighters starts Tuesday, with 22 expected to attend.
He said the Hoover move is a test and the long-range goal is to rotate the training to different locations across the state.
