MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Severe thunderstorms with a threat of tornadoes rumbled across Alabama early Thursday dumping heavy rain and producing hail.
The National Weather Service has issued several tornado warnings, but no touchdowns were reported. High winds brought down trees, damaging at least three homes in central and west Alabama and knocking out power in scattered locales.
Runoff from the heavy rain could flood some creeks, roadways and low-lying areas. A flash flood warning remains in effect for much of Alabama.
Thunderstorms are expected to continue moving through the state into Saturday.
Residents are urged to monitor rapidly changing weather conditions.
