TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Daniel Moore, the football artist in a legal battle with the University of Alabama over trademark law, is taking orders for a new painting. It's titled "The Blowout," depicting the Tide's 36-0 rout of Auburn last November.
Moore began taking orders for it earlier this week. It shows running back Glen Coffee leaping through a gaping hole as the Tide ended six straight Iron Bowl losses.
Moore, whose depictions of celebrated moments in Alabama football history have become collectors' items, was sued four years ago by the university. It claimed trademark law violations and sought payment of licensing fees. Moore filed a counter-suit, accusing the university of damaging his business.
The case has not gone to trial. Arguments on legal issues are scheduled May 18 before the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
