BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An explosive device made from fireworks
powder that was found next to gas pumps in Trafford is similar to
one found in Cullman County earlier this week.

The Jefferson County sheriff's office reported that the explosive device, made with a metallic-type tape, was found in
Trafford Wednesday night.

ATF agent David Hyche said authorities recovered a similar
device made from fireworks powder on the side of the road in
Cullman County on Monday.

Hyche said there were similarities in the bombs, including the
unusual tape.

There is no indication the two are related, but both discoveries alarmed authorities because the devices could have the impact of a hand grenade exploding.
