AU students holds memorial for slain student

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn University students took time to
remember Lauren Burk at a small ceremony on the lawn of Samford
Hall.

One year ago, the 18-year-old freshman from Marietta, Ga., was
kidnapped and murdered on the night of March 4, 2008.

About 40 people, including the SGA President and the AU Dean of
Students, attended Wednesday's memorial.

The service included several tributes to Burk who was described as a caring and high spirited individual.

A 24-year-old man was charged in Burk's slaying. Courtney
Lockhart of Smiths Station awaits trial in Lee County, Ala.
