Jacksonville man sentenced in 1995 killing

Jody Shane Moss pleaded guilty Thursday to the murder of
21-year-old Kristy Arlene Winkler, a co-worker at an Oxford Huddle
House.

The 35-year-old Moss was sentenced to 20 years, the minimum
required for murder with a deadly weapon. But he was allowed to
serve 17 of those years outside prison under court supervision.

Investigators broke the case in 2005 after uncovering statements
Moss made indicating he was the murderer.

Winkler disappeared the night of Nov. 7, 1995, from a
convenience store in Oxford. Two deer hunters found her skeletal
remains a year later near a Jacksonville road.
