Mobile man gets lengthy sentence for online solicitation of a minor

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A Mobile, Ala., man has been sentenced
in federal court to 65 months in prison for online solicitation of
a minor in 2005.

Ray Hatton Jr., who was in Lafayette working on Hurricane Rita
recovery projects, reportedly began chatting online with a state
Attorney General's Office investigator who was posing as a
14-year-old girl.

On Oct. 10 and 11 Hatton allegedly asked the "juvenile" to
take sexually explicit pictures of herself and send them to him.

Officials said he also indicated he wanted to have oral sex with
her and arranged to meet her in Lake Charles, where he was
arrested.

During sentencing Thursday, Hatton said he wouldn't have acted
on the requests and was going to help the girl.
