4-H students from Northview High School and Tuskegee High prepared for the new 4-H "Healthy Living Healthy Choice" program.
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System partnered with Tuskegee University Extension Program to train 4-H volunteers.
The program focuses on nutrition, physical fitness and safety.
Next school year the 4-H students will go in to Dothan City Elementary Schools and teach them how to maintain a healthy lifestyle
"I think it is an excellent volunteer opportunity and especially when you are teaching your peers about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and we have to fight the war on obesity in our state ." said Rosalind James, Regional Extension Agent with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System
The group hopes to reach at least 3,000 students by March of 2014.
