FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say three north Alabama men
spent a night in the water at Wheeler Dam after their boat overturned.
Chris Glover of the Alabama Marine Police says a Tennessee Valley Authority maintenance man saw the three Hanceville men in the water around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Glover says the three men were fishing on Wilson Lake when their boat capsized around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Glover says the men had been fishing for a few hours and were anchored against the dam. A wave came through, dislodging the anchor. The boat was then pulled under and was wedged into the dam.
The men who are 38, 30 and 19, grabbed onto whatever they could
find to stay afloat. Glover says they were lucky they were wearing
The Alabama Marine Police are investigating the accident.
