GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - Goodyear officials had no information on whether workers at its Gadsden plant will feel the pinch of its plan to cut 5,000 jobs worldwide by Dec. 31 and reduce tire production.
Goodyear spokesman Keith Price said the company did not release specifics on where the cuts would occur, except for the announcement it was planning to eliminate 400 jobs at its Danville, Va., tire plant.
The Gadsden plant employs about 1,560 workers. Dennis Battles, president of the United Steelworkers Union local in Gadsden, declined comment.
