Agent shoots drug suspect who rammed officer's car

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Police say an undercover narcotics officer shot and wounded a suspect after the man repeatedly rammed the agent's car.

Lt. Ron Derting says 25-year-old Sedale Martin was shot around 8 p.m. Wednesday. Martin did not shoot at officers, but apparently smashed his truck into the agent's vehicle. The officer's vehicle was totaled.

Martin was taken to Huntsville Hospital, but his condition is not immediately known.

Authorities say agents were trying to arrest Martin after a weeks-long investigation. Derting told the Huntsville Times that Martin allegedly had between 5 and 6 ounces of crack cocaine and an undisclosed amount of money in his possession.

Martin faces charges of attempted murder and felony cocaine possession when he's released from the hospital.
