BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) - Bond has been denied for a 32-year-old
man charged with capital murder in the slaying of a Florida
Panhandle gold dealer allegedly shot during a robbery in coastal
Alabama.

David Game Coombs, of Loxley, is charged with capital murder in
the death of 57-year-old William Oliver "Bill" Grunden of
Pensacola, Fla.

A judge denied bond for Coombs on Friday. If convicted, he could
be sentenced to death or life in prison without parole.

Sheriff's investigators allege Coombs robbed Grunden, then shot
him with a small-caliber pistol Jan. 29. Coombs allegedly set up a
fake gold deal with Grunden, who bought and sold gold by weight.

Grunden's body was found by a deer hunter on a dirt road in a
wooded area about 13 miles east of Loxley.
