Athens lawyer convicted in child sex abuse case

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A north Alabama attorney and public accountant has been convicted on multiple charges for the sexual abuse of two minor girls.

Attorney General Troy King said in a statement, 50-year-old John Hamilton McLain V of Athens was found guilty Thursday of enticement, sexual abuse, kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment of two girls.

McLain went on trial Monday in Madison County circuit court for picking up two girls, ages 12 and 13, in his car and taking them to his house.

Prosecutors said the victims were at McLain's home for about seven hours.

McLain, who faces up 10 years in prison, will be sentenced March
13.
