New charges for Escambia teacher held in drug case

BREWTON, Ala. (AP) - An Escambia County special education teacher accused of illegally providing prescription drugs to young men is facing more charges after officers found child pornography at his home.

Sheriff Grover Smith said officers searched the residence of 48-year-old Larry Eugene Tindell, a teacher at W.S. Neal High School, late Tuesday.

Tindell, who was indicted on drug charges last week, remained in jail Thursday on $425,000 bail.

Smith said the still images of children in sexual situations were likely from the Internet or magazines.

More charges could be filed as the investigation continues. Tindell allegedly provided Lortab to several young men aged 16 and older. County Schools Superintendent William Hines had no comment on the ongoing investigation.

It was not clear if Tindell had a lawyer Thursday.
