SARALAND, Ala. (AP) - Police Chief Gerald Young says his officers stopped the northbound truck Saturday morning near the Celeste Road exit of I-65 for following too close and making an improper lane change.
A search of the trailer found mattresses, furniture and the more
than 200 pounds of cocaine in bundles packed in a wooden crate.
Charges were pending against the truck driver, whose name was
not immediately available.
Young says the officers who stopped the truck, Sgt. Greg Cully
and Officer Nick Gorum, made a similar bust in 2007 that netted 92
kilos of cocaine.
Young says the officers have received special training in
spotting drug shipments on the interstate.
