The I-10 connector project has become much larger than lawmakers originally intended.
The road project which would connect Houston County to Bay County, Florida may now expand all the way to Montgomery.
This morning members of Focus 2000 went to the Montgomery County commission meeting.
Commissioners have adopted the same resolution that Dale, Geneva and Houston Counties already have saying that they will be involved in the project.
The I-10 connector has been in the works for two decades now, and legislators are still trying to get it on track.
New plans suggest that the road will connect with Interstate 85, come down to highway 231 and then lead to I-10.
"To me, that is a significant act because it gives us the reality that- yes- we are talking about a road from the coast to Montgomery connecting this little corner of the world with the rest of the nation. Not just a road from Dothan to the Interstate," says Mark Culver the Houston County Commission Chairman.
In Florida, Washington and Jackson Counties still need to approve the project, and now Pike County, Alabama will also be asked to join.
