Montgomery man charged in Huntsville slayings

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Huntsville police say they have arrested
a Montgomery man in the slayings of two college students who were
shot to death last year.

Police said Wednesday they filed capital murder charges against
28-year-old Wilbert James Smith of Montgomery.

Smith is accused in the slayings of 24-year-old Ronnie Pugh and
28-year-old Bertjenski Peterson, who were found shot to death in a
house on Aug. 23, 2008. Police say more arrests are expected.

Pugh and Peterson were roommates and students at Alabama A&M
University. Pugh was from the Mobile area, and Peterson was from
