Wetumpka man gets high bond in double shooting

Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin said the crime occurred
about 8:30 p.m. Saturday outside a residence on Mt. Zion Road.

Deputies arrested 35-year-old Antonio Jerido, also of Wetumpka.

He was booked on capital murder and assault charges.

Franklin said Cornelius Wayne Gibbs was killed and Darryl Benson
was wounded.

He was listed in critical condition at a Montgomery hospital.

Investigators said robbery is believed to be the motive.

A judge Tuesday set a $500,000 bond on the assault charge, but
set no bail on the capital murder count.
