Ala. governor congratulates Obama on inauguration

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's Republican governor is both congratulating Democrat Barack Obama on his inauguration as president and thanking Republican George Bush for his service.

Gov. Bob Riley issued a statement Tuesday saying he looked forward to working with President Obama. He congratulated Obama on his historic election and said the peaceful transition of power is something to celebrate.

Riley also congratulated Bush for his eight years in office and thanked him for keeping the nation safe during some of its most turbulent times ever.
