MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Dangerously cold weather across Alabama
has prompted some schools to delay opening Friday.
Forecasters warned of single-digit temperatures and winds that
will make it feel like it's 10 degrees below zero.
The weather service said temperatures would remain below
freezing in north Alabama through Saturday, and lows were predicted
in the mid-20s as far south as Gulf Shores.
Schools in Morgan, Lawrence and Cullman County all said they
would delay opening for two hours Friday because of the bitter

said maintenance crews checked boiler systems and brakes on school
