FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - A Florence man has been indicted on rape and sexual abuse charges after allegedly agreeing to a sexual encounter with a woman in exchange for a car payment.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis said 32-year-old Robert Mitchell Marks was arrested after a grand jury indicted him in December. He was being held in the county jail on $75,000 bond.
It was not clear Wednesday if Marks had a lawyer.
The rape allegedly occurred May 9 at the Marks's trailer home near St. Florian.
According to investigators, Marks bought a vehicle from another man, who suggested he arrange a sexual encounter with a woman when he couldn't make a payment. The woman claimed Marks forced her into
a bedroom and raped her.
