The Calhoun County Commission and the Oxford City Council each
approved one percent sales tax increases during 2008 to support
schools. The tax hikes for the county and the city took effect on
Thursday.

Shoppers in Oxford went from paying 8 percent to paying 10

The manager of the PetSmart store in Oxford, Jeremy Sanders,
said cash registers were set to ring up the higher tax on New
