ABBEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A Henry County sheriff's deputy has linked a teenager to recent burglaries at two rural churches.
Investigator Troy Silva said 18-year-old Caleb Benefield of Clayton is charged with breaking into Mt. Zion Church in Abbeville and the Macedonia Church of God in Abbeville.
Both break-ins occurred in Oct.
Benefield, who was already in the Barbour County Jail on an unrelated charge, faces two felony counts of 3rd-degree burglary.
Silva said he obtained a confession from Benefield and additional charges are pending.
The teen reportedly told deputies he stole money, soft drinks
and other items from the churches. He was being held on bonds
