MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Attorney General Troy King says
he's looking into a complaint by the president of the Alabama State
Bar about ads run in the state Supreme Court election.
State Bar President Mark White of Birmingham had asked King to
investigate ads and phone calls made by outside groups before the
election Nov. 4.
King sent White a letter this week saying the matter was being looked into. White said he's glad the attorney general is pursuingthe complaint.
King's letter also criticized the State Bar for acting inappropriately in the Supreme Court campaign. King said the lawyers' organization issued two news releases during the campaign that amounted to political speech similar to what the Bar was complaining about with the outside groups.
