MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A Mississippi woman has pleaded not guilty
to a murder charge in the 1980 shooting death of a University of
South Alabama classmate in an alleged act of jealousy.
A Mobile County judge on Thursday set a May trial date for 47-year-old Jamie Kellam Letson of Pascagoula.
But the judge did not immediately rule on her bid for reduced bail. She was returned to jail in Mobile on her current $500,000 bail.
Letson is charged with murder in the Feb. 21, 1980 slaying of 18-year-old Katherine Foster, also of Pascagoula. Foster had been shot twice in the back of her head with a .22-caliber gun.
Her body was left in woods near the USA campus in Mobile.
Letson was arrested Nov. 21 at a homeless shelter in Jackson,
