Honda Cuts North American Production Again

Alabama's Honda plant will manufacture fewer vehicles next year.

The Japanese automaker announced Friday that it will cut production at seven of its assembly plants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico because of lower demand.

Honda spokesman Ed Miller said production will be cut by 18,000
vehicles at its plant in Lincoln, Ala.

The company's latest production cuts come on top of previous
reductions of 56,000 vehicles for North America announced earlier
in the fiscal year.

Honda and other foreign automakers have not been immune to the
collapse in car demand in the U.S. Honda reported its sales fell 32
percent in November.

Miller said no layoffs will result from the cuts. Employees at
the plants will be given other tasks or can take paid or unpaid
vacation time
