Passerby Finds Baby Boy in Bag

BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) - Bessemer police are trying to find out who
left a baby in a garbage bag along a city road.

Sgt. Darren Hunter said the boy is between two-weeks to a month old and is now in the custody of the Alabama Department of Human
Resources.

Bessemer Fire Battalion Chief Kenny Ray said the infant was in good condition with good vital signs and was wearing a diaper when found.

Ray said the passer-by was headed to his mailbox around 9:30 a.m. when he heard a grunt from what he thought was a bag of trash.

He looked inside the bag and was shaken up by what he saw.

Area hospitals are checking records to see if the infant was born at their locations and Bessemer police are asking anyone with information to call them at (205) 425-2411.

I agree with you. Some people are absolutely crazy. There are reasons why we have adoption agencies. You don't get arrested for giving your baby up for adoption, but you do get arrested if you put your baby in a bag and leave them outside. As a mother, I don't understand this behavior. I pray for this baby, but I pray for the mother as well. Lord knows they both need the pray.

this really gets me stirred up.there are so many childless couples who dearly want a baby .and they had to do this. i think they should put a diaper on who ever did this and stuff them in a garbage bag and leave out in the colg and not let anyone rescue them. GOD have mercy on the precious baby.
