MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Montgomery Police say an officer who was shot while responding to reports of an attempted burglary is in stable condition but a teen suspect was shot and killed in the gunfire.
Lt. Cmdr. Keith Barnett said Thursday that 16-year-old Roderick Johnson of Samford, Fla., was pronounced dead around 1 a.m. and his
death was ruled a murder.
Officers found four armed suspects robbing seven occupants of a north Montgomery home around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Gunfire was exchanged when the suspects ran from the home and were confronted
Johnson and two other suspects were shot and the fourth was arrested without incident. The three surviving suspects have been arrested and charged with Johnson's murder and first-degree robbery.
One of them was also charged with attempted murder of a police officer.
