Transgender suspect accused of theft

ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - Authorities believe a 20-year-old transgender woman stole an estimated $6,000 in cell phones from Wal-Mart stores in Athens and Madison.

Athens police Lt. Floyd Johnson said a warrant was issued for Terrell Marqaue Jolly of Huntsville.

White said Jolly was born as a man and lives as a woman.

Police said surveillance video from the Athens store showed Jolly was wearing a wig and gloves when the phones were stolen on Saturday.

Johnson said Jolly faces first-degree theft charges.

She remains at large.
