DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney says
the race for the 2nd Congressional District seat in Alabama is one
that is critical for Republicans to win.
Romney's comments were made while campaigning in Dothan Thursday
for Republican 2nd District candidate Jay Love.
Jay Love faces Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright, a Democrat, in the Nov. 4 general election.
Romney received an enthusiastic reception when he and Love arrived at Five Star Credit Union in downtown Dothan to meet with area residents.
Later in the day, Romney attended a a private fundraiser for Love.
Romney called Love the only true conservative in the race for the 2nd District nomination.
Romney made an unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination
for president. He suspended his presidential campaign on Feb. 7, just after the Super Tuesday primaries.
