Pell City Schools employee guilty of rape

PELL CITY, Ala. (AP) - A Pell City Schools teacher's aide has pleaded guilty to second-degree rape and the distribution of a controlled substance.

Anthony Eugene Tollison changed his pleas from not guilty to guilty before St. Clair County Circuit Court Judge Charles Robinson Tuesday.

Assistant District Attorney Joey Stevens said the 29-year-old school employee had sex with a girl between the ages of 12 and 16 in the Fellowship Hall of Second Baptist Church in Pell City in March 2007.

Stevens said Tollison also sold or gave marijuana to a confidential informant in August 2007.

Robinson sentenced Tollison to five years in prison for each charge with the sentences to run concurrently. He also reinstated Tollison's bond and allowed him to remain free until his Dec. 11 probation hearing.
