GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - Officials at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
plant in Gadsden have announced the plant will be shutting down
production for the third time this year.
According to Communications manager Jackie Brehm Edmondson,
production will cease at 1 p.m. Oct. 26 and resume at 1 a.m. Nov. 2.
She said the move is an attempt to adjust their inventories as a
result of the slow market.
Goodyear's consumer tire plants in Fayetteville, N.C., and Union
City, Tenn., also will be ceasing production for a week at that
time and several other plants have some level of shutdowns.
The Goodyear plant in Gadsden closed for 16 days in August and
early September and also ceased production from Sept. 27 to Oct. 5.
